Haley Thomas

My name is Haley Thomas. I am the 18 year old granddaughter of Jerry and Betty Thomas of Thom-Ass Acres in Winchester, Indiana. We are members of Mid-States, Tennessee, Missouri, Wisconsin and Kentucky Donkey and Mule Clubs.

I am in my senior year at Randolph Southern High School. I plan to attend Ivy Tech to pursue a nursing career. In school, I was active in band, choir, foreign language club, colorguard, FFA, and I was a wrestling manager.

I'm in my 10th year of 4-H. I have shown donkeys for 9 years, horses for 2 years, goats for 1 year, and I participate in parades, equine expos, horse fairs, dress-your-pet contests, farm visits, nativity scenes, visiting nursing homes, and visiting schools. I started in the show ring at the age of four. I participate in halter, showmanship, color, costume, driving, and fun and games.

Donkeys have played a huge part in my past, and they will continue to play a part in my future. Heavenly Snickers, a 7 years old, spotted gelding, is my best friend that I show. We have received many awards including the following: Ambasssador of the Breed, Versatility Hall of Fame, Merit of Driving, TN Ambassador and several Honor Rolls.

Handling the donkeys all these years has taught me patience, responsibility, and that I am not always right.
